The Akrapovic throat has been developed as an upgrade to complement a complete exhaust system when combined with the Akrapovic Slip-On Line (titanium). It is designed exclusively for closed race tracks, offering improved performance and significant weight reduction.
Larger diameter pipes compared to the standard system and the removal of the catalytic converter allow for improved exhaust flow. The pre-silencer creates a unique sound experience, producing a deep and distinctive racing sound from the boxer engine. This upgrade reduces weight by 54.84% (3.4 kg) compared to the standard system.
In combination with the Slip-On series (titanium), power increases by 3.1 kW (4.2 hp) at 7,800 rpm, while torque increases by 5.9 Nm at 3,000 rpm, as tested on an Akrapovic dynamometer, compared to a BMW R 1300 R equipped with the standard factory system. Installation is plug-and-play, but engine remapping is mandatory.
The optional collector is also compatible with the standard (first installation) / BMW Motorrad Akrapovic silencer accessory. By installing the optional collector (titanium), the ECE type approval for the Slip-On series (titanium) is no longer valid. Furthermore, on Euro5+ motorcycles with two lambda sensors, the engine check light will illuminate due to a deviation in the catalytic converter parameters being detected.
